Politi Architecture and Fineline Design Studio Join Forces to Design, Fabricate, and Install Custom Furniture and Millwork for Clients
Custom touches to architectural construction and renovations can help make a project distinctive – and exceptionally functional.
This is why Politi Architecture is partnering with Fineline Design Studio to offer clients personally designed and fabricated furniture plus millwork. The Long Beach, New York studio specializes in metal and wood furniture, stairs, railings and millwork – all elements Politi Architecture use in its unique architectural designs.
Politi Architecture is the only firm of its size to provide these tailor-made options to clients. “Our approach to custom millwork brings us back to what architecture used to be – architects as the master builders,” said architect Thomas M. Politi.
He points to a perfect example during a recent project in the Murray Hill Neighborhood . A client could not find a vanity for her bathroom that was the right size and met her desire for a combination vanity and makeup station. So, Politi Architecture had the piece fabricated. (see photo)
“She absolutely loved it and got exactly what she wanted,” Politi said. “It turned out to be a very simple, elegant walnut piece including a vessel sink with lighting and power outlets inside.”
By working with a millworker, the firm can control the quality of the piece and ensure the execution of the project’s overall design. Plus, the client is not confined to what the market offers but their options are limitless – depending on what they want and their budget.
Politi Architecture has designed custom built-in desks, shelving units, stairs, kitchens and dividers for closets as well. Typical materials used in their creations are: steel, furniture grade plywood, reclaimed wood lumber and wood slabs with live edges.
As a result of this new partnership, Fineline Design Studio and architect Thomas M. Politi have recently been commissioned by EVOS Construction to develop custom millwork for their latest client - a Forbes best Accounting Firm. Fineline and Politi created a series of custom built-ins for their Flagship NYC Office. One of the pieces was a moss wall to welcome back their works to the new office.
